Design Notes

SouR responds to sarcosine structurally related compounds (e.g. ethylglycine ). It is likely that creatinine or creatine could also act as an inducing ligand of SoxR.

We have included a Red Fluorescent Protein reporter to visualize when the sensor is active.

The sequence of pSouR belongs to the intergenic region between the PA5415 (glyA1) and PA5414 genes of the sox operon of Pseudomonas aeruginosa that controls sarcosine metabolism.
